Burney - Higher Trapp Country House Hotel

This delightful hotel is set in the heart of the Pendle countryside just 5 minutes from Junction 8 of the M65. It is an ideal location for either business or pleasure. With 29 tastefully furnished and decorated bedrooms, and a very impressive restaurant the Higher Trapp is an ideal venue for your break in Pendle. It's situated close to all the best walking and rambling, as well as being close to the major attractions; and it's only a short drive to Manchester.

Burnley - The Rosehill House Hotel

This hotel's standards are such that you might think you're living in your own country house, complete with all the facilities you'd expect! There are 34 individually designed and tastefully furnished bedrooms, each with its own character; whether your room is in the main house or the splendidly restored coach house, you'll enjoy fine antiques, luxurious soft furnishings and the modern facilities of a first class country house hotel. The rooms and suites all mix exceptional comfort and tradition to produce a wonderfully enjoyable experience. There are two restaurants on site: you can choose from inventive and creative modern English cuisine or Mediterranean dishes, with a superb wine list. For a formal dining experience, the ideal venue is Dugdales, a wood panelled dining room where inventive quality is the watchword, to give you fine dining at its best. Less formally, the Tapas menu served in the Victorian conservatory, offers sophisticated modern food with the finest dishes from the freshest local ingredients.

Burnley - The Oaks Hotel

The Oaks Hotel has been renovated to a very high standard and, located in five acres of landscaped gardens, just on the outskirts of Burnley, offers superb accommodation in a building which combines the best of the old and the best of the new. When we stayed, in November 2007, the restaurant proved to be very good, the staff professional and the public areas and our room that we were in had been newly decorated/refurbished.

Clitheroe - Eaves Hall Hotel

You will enjoy the aura of an archetypal English country house hotel all the way from the ornate entrance gates right through 12 acres of landscaped gardens into the magnificent building which is set in the heart of the Ribble Valley, surrounded by verdant countryside, and dominated by Pendle Hill. Eaves Hall offers pleasant bedroom accommodation with wonderful views over gardens and countryside as well as two fully equipped self-catering cottages with full use of the hotel's facilities. The premier bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, offering lounge seating, king sized beds, tasteful modern furnishings and nice little touches such as bath robes, mineral water, fresh flowers and chocolates.  The nine select rooms also offer great views. And the cottages in the grounds offer the convenience of the hotel with a degree of independence.
The restaurant at Eaves Hall is located in an elegant room with period features; you can dine while enjoying fantastic views out over the gardens. The menu features traditional British dishes with a scintillating modern twist, using much of the excellent local produce. The restaurant is open to non-resident guests and is the perfect setting for Sunday Lunch. And if you prefer something lighter, the bar offers log fires and snacks and bar meals between 11am and 8pm. Afternoon Cream Tea in the gardens when the weather is favourable is an absolute delight, with perhaps a walk around the beautiful gardens afterwards to ward off any extra calories! Eaves Hall offers a perfect place to enjoy Crown Bowls, tennis and snooker; outside you can enjoy archery and clay pigeon shooting or the private fishing rights on the River Ribble. There's much to see and do in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a part of Lancashire which remains unspoiled by the commercialism that has impacted on The Lakes.

Mellor - the Millstone

Near Blackburn you'll find the Millstone At Mellor - which is both a village inn and a fine hotel with two AA rosettes. There are more than twenty guest rooms if you wish to stay over. Some rooms are located in the Courtyard which is across the car park from the hotel, but they all have very tasteful furnishings and most comfortable beds, with quality toiletries in the bathroom. Attention to detail is exemplified by the provision of wooden hangers and padded satin hangers, an iron and ironing board and a clothes brush as well as the usual trouser press. The bathroom was well furnished and again the attention to detail showed up in the magnifying mirror for make up and men's shaving.
Breakfast is superbly presented and delicious and the food is locally sourced. See also the entry in the eating out section.
