Barrowford - The Barn B and B

An ideal centre for outdoor activities such as motorcycling, wildlife watching, walking, and cycling, The Barn offers secure storage and off road parking for equipment and transport. The property is exceptionally handy for the Pennine Way, Pennine Bridleway, and the Pendle Way, and even if you aren't a long-distance walker, there are lots of local circular walks - and the owners can provide a pick-up/drop-off service as well!

The Barn is close to centres of historical interest, retail outlets and walking distance from local facilities for evening wining and dining.  For example, The Barn is less than five minutes walk from Pendle Heritage Centre, a beautiful park with an adventure playground, river and lake; there's country walking nearby, along with plenty of wildlife including deer and a wide variety of birds; shops selling high quality food and sandwiches; boutique shops, hairdressers and nail bar; super pubs, English, Indian and Italian restaurants, and excellent take-aways for the evenings.

There are lots of things to do within a few minutes drive, including shopping at the Boundary Mill, Barden Mill and Ossie Mill (all retail outlet centres which offer big label bargains), historic places such as Gawthorpe Hall, Towneley Hall, the Brontés museum and attractions at Haworth, Earby Mining Museum, the Pendle Witch trail and Queen Street Mill. The historic market towns of Clitheroe (with some excellent wine merchants!) and the delightful town of Skipton are less than 20 minutes' easy drive away.

Roughlee - Dam Head Farm – B&B, Studio and Cottage

If you would like to stay in luxurious rural accommodation only a mile from the M65 but set in glorious countryside then Dam Head Farm is the place for you. In the village of Roughlee, Dam Head Farm is an ideal spot for tourists to Pendle including walkers and cyclists but also for local businesses looking to accommodate visiting personnel. The property offers a range of accommodation from "boutique" style B&B – in the grade 2 listed Dam Head Barn – to the luxurious 2 bedroomed Blacksmith’s Cottage.

Dam Head Barn is a 400 year old, listed barn, which has been converted with integrity and a love of old buildings by the owners. The barn is attached to the original farmhouse of Dam Head Farm, and is set in open gardens. There are 3 double rooms which offer lovely accommodation – the latest is a brand new garden studio which accommodates 2 people but also is big enough for a pull out bed. This garden studio double room has an ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette for those who prefer some independence. Blacksmith’s Cottage offers the best in self-contained accommodation. Split over two floors this rural gem is full of exposed beams and wonderful character. On the ground floor is a beautifully appointed lounge with log burner and fully fitted dining kitchen. A solid oak staircase leads to a gallery landing with two double rooms sharing one bathroom with walk in shower. In all, the property accommodates 10-16 people. There is a purpose built cycle store, BBQ facilities and extensive gardens in which to relax and enjoy the house and surrounding area.

Roughlee sits at the foot of the majestic Pendle Hill, within the Forest of Bowland area of outstanding natural beauty and only a mile from the village of Barrowford which is an excellent shopping centre packed with individual food, wine and fashion shops – not to be found in the usual high street shops! In addition the surrounding area caters for a variety of tastes and interests - there are historic Market Towns, canals, art galleries, museums and a treasure trove of shopping with a whole array of mills and artisan shops on the doorstep. For those looking to dine, whether formally or informally, there are many fine pub restaurants and Michelin Starred restaurants in the vicinity.
